“When the time to perform arrives, the time to prepare has passed!”

You can own the finest weapons, the most advanced gear, and enough equipment to outfit an army—but without the training to use it, you’re still a liability. Gear doesn’t make the warrior. Skill, discipline, and preparation do. Without them, you can die on day one wearing a million dollars’ worth of equipment.
Fighting Handgun
One day class – 8 Hours (8:00 am to 5:00 pm)
Manteca Sportsmen’s Inc – 30261 Airport Way, Manteca, CA, 95337
Course Description: This intermediate level Fighting Handgun course is designed for shooters who already possess safe gun-handling skills and a solid understanding of marksmanship fundamentals, such as those who have been through the Carry Concealed Weapon Initial Training class. The emphasis shifts away from simply hitting targets and toward efficiently solving defensive shooting problems under realistic conditions.
Students will refine their ability to rapidly deliver accurate fire from the holster, perform emergency and tactical reloads, clear common stoppages instinctively, engage multiple threats, move safely while shooting, use cover effectively, and make sound decisions under stress. Throughout the day, students will learn that speed is only valuable when paired with accuracy, consistency, and sound judgment.
The class focuses on practical defensive handgun skills rather than competition techniques. Every drill has a tactical purpose and reinforces concepts that can be applied in personal defense, law enforcement, or defensive firearms training.
Learning Objectives
By the conclusion of this course students should be able to:
- Demonstrate safe firearm handling
- Draw safely and efficiently from the holster
- Deliver accurate first-round hits at realistic defensive distances
- Balance speed with accuracy
- Manage recoil for rapid follow up shots
- Conduct emergency reloads instinctively
- Perform tactical reloads when appropriate
- Diagnose and clear handgun malfunctions without hesitation
- Engage multiple targets efficiently
- Shoot while moving
- Use cover correctly
- Transition between precision and speed based on target difficulty
- Make effective shooting decisions under time pressure
- Demonstrate safe muzzle discipline throughout dynamic exercises
End Goals
Upon successful completion, students should leave with a higher level of proficiency in employing a defensive handgun under realistic conditions. Rather than focusing solely on marksmanship, they should understand how to integrate weapon handling, movement, use of cover, malfunction management, reloads, and decision making into a cohesive defensive skill set. The course is intended to bridge the gap between basic handgun competency and more advanced training involving force-on-force scenarios, low-light operations, and team tactics.
